What's Needed for Recertification?
Here is a brief overview of how to recert

Seat Checks

  • Seats for recertification MUST be checked off by a certified instructor. ​​

Seat Types Needed:

  • Infant Carrier

  • RF Convertible 

  • FF CS with Harness

  • Booster

  • LATCH

1 Community Education

  • Participate in 2 hour car seat check

  • Provide at least 4 hours of community education for non-CPSTs

  • Attend minimum of 1 hour of educational sessions (live or virtual)

6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

  • In-person Session/Workshop (maximum 6 CEUs)

  • Teleconferences (maximum 5 CEUs)

  • Online/Web sessions (maximum 6 CEUs)

  • Newsletters/Manuals/Journals (maximum 3 CEUs)

Pay Recertification Fee

  • The recertification fee is $55 that is the responsibility of the technician or their agency. 

  • If you expire and need to retake the course or renewal course, the fee would be $95 that is NOT covered by the program.

    • For this opportunity, CPSTs must have a seat check with a caregiver scheduled for the same time as this meeting. If a mock scenario is needed, the mock must mimic a real seat check in a vehicle with caregiver(s) and child. If there is not a child, you may be asked to use a doll. CPSTs must have video capability and a good Wi-Fi or cell signal for a successful appointment. ​
